Professional Large Photo Scanning in Victoria, BC

In your home, you likely have treasured family heirlooms that are simply impossible to replace: a grandparent’s wedding portrait, a formal family picture, or that one-of-a-kind print of a cherished ancestor. Because these memories are so precious, finding a large photo scanning service in Victoria that you can trust is absolutely essential. These oversized prints are vulnerable to fading, accidental damage, and the slow decay of time, and the thought of mailing them away is understandably unsettling.

A Meticulous Solution: Transforming Your Large Photos

My service transforms these vulnerable physical heirlooms into permanent, high-resolution digital files. Instead of simply storing your past, we are actively preserving it for future generations to share and enjoy. I provide a dedicated, local oversized photo scanning service that handles your irreplaceable memories with the professional, discreet care they deserve. Every photo is personally handled by me, Dave, and me alone, ensuring your heirlooms never leave the safety of my local Victoria studio.

Capturing Every Detail with Professional Equipment

To ensure a flawless digital conversion, I use a professional-grade flatbed scanner designed specifically for oversized documents and photographs. We can accommodate any print up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches. Each photograph is scanned at a minimum of 600 DPI (dots per inch), a high resolution that captures the subtle textures, tones, and intricate details of the original print. Consequently, this process not only creates a perfect digital archive but also gives you a file of such high quality that you can create beautiful new enlargements and reprints for the entire family. Careful Handling for Framed & Fragile Portraits

Many treasured portraits are secured behind glass in delicate frames. For the absolute best scan quality, free from glare and distortion, it is essential to scan the photograph directly. Therefore, I take great care to meticulously and safely remove your photo from its frame and housing. After scanning, it is just as carefully returned, handled at all times with the utmost respect for its sentimental and physical integrity. Proper handling is key to long-term preservation, something you can read more about from archival experts like the Suggested Outbound Link: Canadian Conservation Institute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you scan photos that are in frames?

For the best possible scan quality, the photograph must be removed from its frame and taken out from behind the glass. I can do this for you with great care if the frame is easy to disassemble.

What resolution do you use for large portraits?

I scan oversized photos at a high resolution, typically 600 DPI or higher. This captures the fine detail of the original print and ensures that the digital copy can be used to create beautiful new enlargements without any loss of quality.

What is the maximum size photo you can scan?

I can accommodate all standard photo sizes up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches, which covers the vast majority of family portraits and enlargements, including 8x10s. If you have a larger item, please contact me to discuss potential options.
